Mini Digger Width: Standard Ranges and How to Measure

Mini Digger Width: Standard Ranges and How to Measure

Standard Mini Digger Width Ranges

Mini diggers are grouped into width classes that match their operating weight. Micro machines under 1 ton are usually 0.8 m to 1.0 m wide. Models from 1 to 2 tons are typically 1.0 m to 1.2 m wide. Compact machines from 2.5 to 3.5 tons are usually 1.3 m to 1.6 m wide.

These ranges are only a guide because each manufacturer designs a different undercarriage. Always check the exact width from the spec sheet before planning access or transport.

How to Measure Mini Digger Width

  • Measure across the outside of both tracks, not just the rubber.
  • Measure the blade separately because it can be wider than the tracks.
  • Check the canopy, handrails, and counterweight at their widest point.
  • Use the largest number for gate and trailer planning.

Why the Correct Width Matters

A machine that fits the access route saves time and avoids damage to walls, gates, and paving. Choosing by width first, then digging depth, gives you a mini digger that can both reach the site and complete the work.
