Two mini diggers can have similar digging depth but very different lifting behavior. Weight, track gauge, counterweight, boom geometry, and load position determine how much the machine can handle safely. A lighter machine may reach the trench but not lift the pipe. A heavier machine may lift comfortably but be unable to pass a narrow gate.

Weight is not the same as lift capacity

The SDLE25 page lists a 1.5 t operating weight, 1200 mm overall width, 200 mm track width, and 3668 mm maximum digging radius. Those details were checked on September 17, 2026. They show that the machine has a different envelope from a 0.9 t or 2.9 t unit.

Why heavier machines can lift more

More mass can provide a larger counterbalance, especially when the load is close to the machine. A longer track frame and wider gauge can also improve stability. However, mass alone does not guarantee safe lifting if the load is far from the machine or the ground is uneven.

Weight and trailer choice

A 1.5 t mini digger is not a light trailer load once attachments and fuel are included. Check the trailer’s gross capacity, deck length, ramps, axle rating, and tie-down points. The towing vehicle must be suitable, and the route may have width or weight restrictions.

For a 2.9 t machine, the transport plan moves into a different category. Confirm whether a truck or larger trailer is required and how the machine will be loaded safely. Do not assume that a trailer used for a sub-1-ton machine can carry the larger class.

Ground pressure and surface protection

Heavier machines can compact soil and damage finished surfaces. Track width, track length, and machine position influence ground pressure. Use mats, choose a stable route, and avoid turning repeatedly on the same spot. If the ground is wet, postpone the work or use a different access method.
